We have been so late in getting Christmas goodies made.  With our new baby girl arriving in December, these cute reindeer cake pops didn’t make their appearance in our kitchen until yesterday.  Even with that being the case, we were still able to deliver these delicious red-nose treats to friends and family with time to spare.  These sweet cake pops come together so quick, you can have them made and ready for your Christmas festivities in no time.

Were you able to guess the 4 ingredients I used? Here’s my list.

  • 1 Chocolate cake
  • 1 can Chocolate frosting
  • 18-24 oz Chocolate
  • Sixlet Chocolate balls (I bought the red, green, and white variety which was perfect for the eyes and nose). You’ll need about 20 red and 40 white.

Yes, we love chocolate around here… can you tell? Haha.

I started by melting a little chocolate in a ziploc bag. Then doting the white Sixlets to make the eyes.

Once that was done I moved onto the antlers.  I piped heart antlers onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.  The one thing I would tell you to note on the chocolate antlers is to make sure you make them thick and short.  I made the mistake of making them long and when I packaged them for delivery some of the antlers broke.  It was a very sad moment!

After the chocolate was piped I moved onto the cake pop centers.  This part is so fun to do with kids.  I baked my chocolate cake and let it cool. Then, with the help of my kiddos, we broke the cake down to crumbs then added a can of chocolate frosting.  Once the frosting was stirred in, we formed the mixture into large balls, about 1 1/2 to 2 inches.  We were able to make 18-20 pop centers.  Once they were formed we popped them into the freezer to firm up.

After the cake pop centers were chilled and firm I dipped a the sucker stick into a cup of melted chocolate then stuck it into the cake pop center.  Then I dipped the entire cake pop into the melted chocolate.  Working fast, before the chocolate hardened, I stuck the chocolate antlers in the top, the 2 eyes on and the red candy nose.
