ABOUT ME: The Beginning of Making Cents in the Kitchen
Hi there! Welcome to Kitchen Cents. I’m so excited you dropped in. I’m Rachel, the author, photographer, coupon-clipping foodie behind Kitchen Cents. Here at Kitchen Cents you’ll find lots of delicious budget-friendly recipes right out of my family favorites, some time-saving tips and tricks and a few fun DIY projects/crafts. I’m so thrilled to me sharing these. I started Kitchen Cents to create a personal digital recipe book I can take everywhere and to share delicious budget-friendly recipes from my family to yours. Let’s make cents in the kitchen together. This is me…
Here’s a couple tidbits about me. I’ve been a foodie since I can remember. Probably why you won’t find size 2 pants in my closet. haha I love shopping… if I can make a purchase with a coupon, on clearance or thrifting, it’s like Christmas morning! I have a crazy passion for baking but love cooking and food in general. My mom saw my passion for creating in the kitchen when I was 12 years old. I couldn’t get enough of the food channel over Christmas break and since then I have been making cents in the kitchen and sometimes big sweet messes.
I love baking. I made my first wedding cake when I was 14. It was all buttercream and very colorful. The next one was made of fondant (which I prefer to work with) when I was 15. I don’t do many cakes these days with 3 little ones at my feet but still get my baking fix with more family friendly kid-approved goodies.
I always thought I’d go to school in culinary arts and become a Chef–someone that made people happy through food. I soon realized a profession in the food industry would come at the cost of a family and my nights, weekends and holidays. I chose family over a profession in food and am happy I did because my family is my world. The three little ladies that call me mom are the coolest and cutest girls I know. More about them below. 🙂
I’ve been married to Ryan, my best friend and partner in crime, since 2010. He’s one of the smartest people I know and he loves my cooking. Phew! I think I sealed the deal with my Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup–it’s one of his favorites. 😉
Together we’ve been blessed in welcomed 3 beautiful little miss into the world, Ember–our smarty pants thinker, Asha–our dancing flame that never stops glowing and Charra–(pronounced like CHarcoal) our big blue-eyed smiles-for-miles. Yes, our little ladies have fiery “unique” names and we love them to pieces! <3 They are such great helpers in the kitchen especially when I’m whipping up some yummy brownies or get to taste some delicious homemade salted caramel sauce.
Anyways, enough about me. I hope you love it here at Kitchen Cents and drop in to see what’s new. I will be posting new content 2-3 times a week.
