Blackened Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer

Blackened seared Ahi tuna sliced thin and served with spicy soy wasabi dipping sauce. An easy, delicious 10-minute appetizer.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Fresh frozen, then thawed Ahi Tuna Steaks
  • 1/4 cup blackened seasoning
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoons wasabi sauce

Method
 

Seared Ahi Tuna:
  1. Heavily season fresh tuna steaks on both sides.
  2. Heat skillet over medium-high to high heat.
  3. Cook tuna for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes per side or until cooked 1/3 through each side. Don't over cook. there should be a raw pink ribbon through the center (about 1/3 of the thickness of the tuna steak).
  4. Remove from skillet and let cook until handleable. Carefully slice into 1/4 inch thick slices, cutting AGAINST the grain of the fish.
  5. Plate and serve with soy wasabi dipping sauce.
Spicy Soy Wasabi Dipping Sauce:
  1. Whisk wasabi sauce into soy sauce. Depending on spiciness level you desire, add more or less wasabi sauce.
