Prep Time 20 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Ferrero Rocher chocolate truffles
  • Ghirardelli chocolate squares **see notes**
  • Mini Reese's cups
  • Brown mini M&M's
  • Melted chocolate your choice of type
  • Twizzlers Pull 'N' Peel candy
  • Gold edible paint
  • Gold sugar sprinkles

Method

  1. Prep Your 'Graduates': Keep the Ferrero Rocher truffles wrapped – their golden wrapper will add to the final aesthetic! Save the paper cup the truffle comes in. We’ll use it later. Unwrap the Ghirardelli chocolate squares and mini Reese's cups – these will serve as the 'cap' of your graduation pops.
  2. Make the Tassels: Using a 2-3 inch Twizzlers Pull 'N' Peel (there are 9 pieces stuck together-you will pull one string apart and cut it to 2-3 inches long), cut the bottom inch or so into 4thin strands. Make sure they stay attached to the top thicker part of the Twizzlers piece. Paint the ends and a portion of the thicker (uncut) piece with the gold edible paint, and before it dries, dip the painted part into the gold sugar sprinkles. Once it has dried, cut the none golden end so the final tassel is about 2 inches long.

  3. Assemble the Caps: Start by attaching the Ghirardelli square to the mini Reese's cup using some melted chocolate as 'glue'. This will form the graduation cap. Once dry, attach a brown mini M&M on the center of the 'cap' and the edible Twizzlers golden tassel with a bit more melted chocolate.

  4. Make Them 'Poppable': Dip a sucker stick into melted chocolate. Insert the sucker stick into the bottom of each Ferrero Rocher truffle. Make sure to move the foil out of the way to avoid pushing it into the center of the truffle.

  5. Put on the Caps: Now, using a bit more melted chocolate, attach your newly formed graduation cap to the top of the Ferrero Rocher truffle, placing it directly onto the wrapper.
  6. Bring Them to Life: Add the paper cup that came with the truffle to the bottom of the stick as seen in the picture. With a hot glue gun or melted chocolate, carefully attach the mini googly eyes to the Ferrero Rocher 'head'. Remember to let the glue cool and harden before proceeding to the next step.

  7. Package for Presentation: Finally, place each pop into a clear treat bag and secure it with a gold twist tie for a matching pop of color. Now, your adorable graduate pops are ready to be admired and devoured!

Notes

Ghirardelli chocolate squares - I used dark chocolate because it looked more "black" like a traditional graduation cap but you can use whatever kind you prefer. You could even get a little extra creative and use white chocolate then paint it whatever color or design you desire.
