Dulce De Leche French Toast Bake

This Dulce De Leche French Toast Bake is amazing on any morning and will be a hit with your family. No syrup needed because the sweetness is baked right in.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices French bread or thick cut bread about 12-14 oz
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 14- oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place bread cubed in lightly greased 9x13 baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat together milk, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and half the sweetened condensed milk.
  4. Pour milk mixture over the bread. Lightly press bread down using a fork or spoon to help bread absorb milk mixture.
  5. Drizzle remaining sweetened condensed milk on top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until top is golden brown and bread has set.

Notes

  • Use sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk. Sweetened condensed milk is thick and sweet and is what bakes into the dulce de leche flavor.
  • Leftovers keep well. Cover and refrigerate for 3 to 4 days, then reheat in the microwave or oven at 325 degrees until warmed through.
  • To make a half batch, use an 8x8 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 to 35 minutes, until set and golden on top.
