Did you know it’s National Mac and Cheese Day TODAY, July 14th? To celebrate we made this Easy 4-Cheese Stovetop Mac and Cheese for lunch. This is a classic, creamy, cheesy, garlic-filled pasta dish that every mac and cheese lover will enjoy!
We (me and the girls) love mac and cheese. Ryan not so much… he despises cheese in all its forms. We take advantage at lunchtime to enjoy that creamy deliciousness such as today.
Today was the perfect day to enjoy a large bowl of creamy mac and cheese because it’s National Mac and Cheese Day. Woot! I love “holidays” like this. 🙂
My girls would eat macaroni and cheese every day if I let them. I won’t lie, I’ve let them have leftovers for breakfast before. Haha. Do you ever do that? Let your kids eat a favorite lunch/dinner meal for breakfast? I hope I’m not the only one.
This stovetop style mac and cheese is a classic and delicious meal. It’s thick and creamy with a burst of garlic. No wonder there’s a national day for it and we all LOVE it!
This recipe is easy too. I start with a pound of elbow pasta. I cooked mine for about 5 minutes (on the package it said 7 minutes to fully cook it). I don’t like mushy macaroni and cheese so I undercooked it on purpose. Next, I through all the ingredients for the sauce in a large saucepan. You want to cook this over low-medium heat to avoid scorching or curdling.
Once it was creamy and blended I added the pasta and let the noodles absorb the extra liquid (and finish cooking).
I cooked over low-medium heat for another 5 minutes or so and it was ready. Easy, right?!
We like to add a little sprinkle of cheese before enjoying. Do you like the added topping too?
What’s your favorite kind of macaroni and cheese? Classic and creamy or all grown up style with bacon or peppers?
