Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these without butter?
Yes, but the garlic butter is what gives this dish its signature flavor. If you need a dairy-free option, try a plant-based butter substitute.

Do I need to marinate the steak first?
No marinade is necessary! The quick seasoning blend gives the steak plenty of flavor without the extra time.

What oil should I use?
If your steak is lean, a small amount of olive oil or avocado oil can help it crisp in the air fryer. However, this step is optional.

Can I reheat leftover steak bites?
Yes, but do it quickly to avoid overcooking. A short 2–3 minutes in the air fryer or a quick sauté in a hot skillet will do the trick.

Can I prep and freeze these steak bites ahead of time?
Absolutely! This recipe is perfect for prepping in advance. I love buying large packs of steak from Sam’s Club or Costco, prepping a few meals then freezing for even easier dinners.

Simply season the raw steak cubes as instructed and place them in a freezer-safe bagI vacuum seal the meat when possible. You can also prepare the garlic butter mixture and freeze it in a separate small container or silicone cube tray. When you’re ready to cook, thaw both the steak and garlic butter in the fridge overnight. Then cook the steak bites in the air fryer as directed and finish with the melted garlic butter for a quick and flavorful meal.

Bonus Tip: Serving Suggestions

Steak bites are super versatile. Try them in wraps, on top of salads, or over rice. They also make a protein-packed appetizer when served with toothpicks and a small dish of dipping sauce. And if you have a dual-basket air fryer, you can cook your favorite side—like these delicious air fryer garlic potatoes—at the same time for an easy, satisfying meal.
